MRI Technology
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) uses magnetism and radio waves to produce images of the body. It is an advanced technology that lets your physician see internal organs, blood vessels, muscles, joints, tumors, areas of infection, and more, without x-rays, surgery or pain.
MRI is very safe; in fact, it makes use of natural forces and has no known harmful effects. It’s important to know that an MRI will not expose you to any radiation. The images produced by MRI provide the most detailed pictures available of the anatomy of the human body.
MRI exams have been shown to be very helpful in diagnosing a broad range of conditions in all parts of the body. Specifically, physicians may refer you for an MRI when evaluating, diagnosing, or treating the following conditions:
- Abdominal Disease
- Blood flow and vessel disorders
- Brain Disorders
- Cardiac Malformations
- Infections
- Musculoskeletal disorders
- Spine Disease
- Tumors (malignant and benign)
